Java Masters enters fourth year

This year, BenQ Mobile and Sun Microsystems are holding the international competition Java Masters for the development of new mobile Java applications. Participants in the Java Masters 2006 face the challenge of designing innovative applications for the following devices: Siemens SXG75, S75 and CX75 mobile phones. Apart from students, companies are also invited again to submit their proposals this year.
The aim of the Java Masters is to motivate developers around the world to dedicate themselves to programming new mobile applications on the basis of the Java Platform (J2ME). After the Siemens Communications Mobile Devices Business was taken over by BenQ Mobile this international competition is held for the fourth time. The best entries will win attractive prizes. Correspondingly, BenQ Mobile and Sun Microsystems will present the much-coveted award in the categories of “Student Java Masters” and ”Professional Java Masters”.
Navigation applications or games should be at the forefront of considerations for the SXG75 mobile. For the S75, Business applications, and clever ideas in the music area would be suitable. Participants can bring in multimedia application ideas for the CX75 devices. BenQ Mobile and Sun Microsystems will supply participants with the development tools they need.
The award will be presented during the Games Convention Developer Conference (GCDC) from the 21 st until the 23 rd of August 2006 in Leipzig , Germany . First prize winners will travel to the GCDC and will also receive an attractive high-end phone from BenQ Mobile. The second and third prize winners will also receive attractive technology-based prizes from BenQ Mobile and Sun Microsystems.
